Bahrain International Airport (IATA: BAH); located in Muharraq in the Eastern province of Manama, is Gulf Air’s main base with excellent connections to and from the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent and North & East Africa. In addition to long distance services from Athens, Frankfurt, London, Manila, Moscow and Paris, the airport has good duty-free shopping for those awaiting flights. Many residents of eastern Saudi Arabia choose to fly out via Bahrain for which Gulf Air offers shuttle services to Khobar and Dammam to cater to this market.

VIA ROAD
Tourists are not permitted to drive between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in a hired car. Residents of Saudi Arabia who have their own cars may use this crossing providing they have car insurance for both countries. For those coming from Saudi Arabia this can be purchased at the border. A transit visa must be obtained from the Saudi authorities for those travelling by car between the UAE and Bahrain.
Anyone crossing the border from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia will be given a customs form to complete, and drivers entering Bahrain from Saudi Arabia must purchase temporary Bahraini insurance and also sign a personal guarantee.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman port is home to 43 cruise liners that arrive in Bahrain during the cruise tourism season between October-April. These cruise ships carry over 90,000 tourist passengers who venture into the city to learn about its rich heritage as well as the contemporary expansion.
The cruise tourism season has seen a considerable rise in the number of ship calls since its inception and this is projected to increase significantly in the coming years.
